Just to let you know I was very happy with your steelhead net kit. I added the handle with aspen highlights and brass plugs at the inch marks. You can put the fish’s nose on the inside of the net and measure the tail against the brass plugs – real quick for the photo and the release.
From the inside of the net to the handle is 30”. The large brass plugs are at 5” intervals. At 30” the net fits in my vest back pocket and is at the top of my head – good for bush wacken. See the attachments.

My fishing partners asked if I am afraid to use it now – scratches and fish slim are much better than dust!

THE LEAVES ARE FALLING AND I JUST COULDN'T PASS UP THE CHANCE TO TROUT FISH ONE LAST TIME AT BENNETT SPRINGS TROUT PARK AND WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY IT WAS. THE END OF ANOTHER SEASON OF CATCHING RAINBOW TROUT HAS ARRIVED SO QUICKLY. BUT I WILL PROBABLY MANAGE A FEW TRIPS BACK, HOWEVER, FOR CATCH AND RELEASE THIS WINTER.

Our thanks to Patrick McKarnin for sending in this beautiful snapshot of a nice Cutthroat he landed with his Franklin Trout Net on the Coeur d'Alene River in Idaho this Summer. He caught him and numerous others on a deer hair hopper. They were also tearing up yellow stimulators.

2008 TROUT SEASON HAS BEGUN

Spring has sprung and we are eagerly tying on our flies and wading out in the streams for those fiesty trout.

Missouri had record numbers of fishermen in the trout parks on opening day March 1, 2008.

If the first day is any indication of the rest of the season, it should be a memorable one.

Our congratulations to Ryan Grinwis of Michigan for his beautiful job on the steelhead trout net which he recently purchased and finished from one of our Franklin Net Kits!

STEELHEAD NET KIT MAKES A BIG CATCH

Ryan Grinwis of Michigan sent in this nice photo of his new steelhead net in action which he made from one of our kits.

Ryan said in his email, "The net works great Thanks! I finally got to use it this morning, ( I only put 4 coats of finish, I didn't have the patience to do the 5th!) but the net performed awesome, I landed 3 steelhead this morning with it, the extra long handle really helps!

Congrats on the nice catch and keep us posted in the future. Keep on landing 'em in style!

We apologize for the long delay in adding a post to the blog, but will try to do better in the future. Can't believe where the time goes, so decided to take the day off yesterday and enjoy the last day of the season fly fishing in the park, Bennett Springs State Park, Mo. It was a beautiful day and the fish were biting (somewhat). I did have to work at it using several different flies but the effort was worth it especially at the dinner table last night.

There is nothing like fresh fried trout!

I manufacture trout nets, and have a lot of requests for the small mesh knot less catch and release nets, which we now carry.

I am wondering what you trout fishermen prefer? I still like the old time nets, but I am just old fashioned I guess. Please comment.
